The Encouragers Scholarship
The Encouragers Mission Trip Scholarship was established in memory of Rita Lyons, Carmen Emerson and others who encouraged individuals to go and be a “Lion” for Christ. There are two amounts: $300.00 for international team or $150.00 for State side teams. The award was created to help a person who feels God calling them to participate in a short-term mission.
Eligibility and Process
The award will be made available to any applicant that is participating on a SOAR Ministries, Inc. mission and is active in a local church. Each applicant has to submit a completed questionnaire, two recommendations, along with a 300 word essay explaining why he/she is going on this mission. Deadline for the completed package is March 29th of each year.
After the deadline a panel of 3 will review the applicants and choose 1 or more awardees (more than 1 awardee only if the funds are available). The recipient(s) will be notified by April 31st of the panel’s decision.
If for any reason the awardee can not go on the mission, the amount will be returned to SOAR for another year. If the airline tickets have been purchased then the money will go to the team account.
Non-Eligibility
Those not eligible for this award:
- Any person/persons working for SOAR Ministries, Inc. in an official capacity.
- SOAR Ministries, Inc. Board Members and families.
